England equipment

England’s preparations for the 2026 FIFA World Cup have been disrupted after training equipment was reportedly stolen while being transported to the team’s base camp in Kansas City.

According to reports, the shipment was travelling from England’s training camp in Florida when a significant quantity of equipment went missing. The stolen items are believed to include official FIFA World Cup balls, player training gear, boots, coaching equipment and medical supplies.

Harry Kane and Jude Bellingham equipment reportedly stolen

There are concerns that custom boots belonging to captain Harry Kane and midfielder Jude Bellingham were among the items taken.

Reports have also suggested that only a single World Cup ball remained from the original shipment.

The incident comes at a critical stage of England’s preparations, with Thomas Tuchel’s side set to begin their World Cup campaign against Croatia on 17 June.

Investigation launched into missing equipment

The Football Association discovered the breach after the transport vehicle arrived at England’s official base camp at Swope Soccer Village in Kansas City.

Local reports indicate investigators are examining the possibility of insider involvement, with attention focused on those responsible for transporting the equipment from West Palm Beach, Florida.

The stolen inventory is understood to include tactical whiteboards used by Tuchel and his coaching staff, analytical equipment, massage tables and other resources essential to the team’s daily operations.

Authorities work to recover stolen items

Police in Kansas City have confirmed that an investigation is underway and reports suggest that two individuals considered persons of interest have already been taken into custody.

The Football Association is working closely with local authorities as efforts continue to recover the missing items.

Despite the disruption, England’s support staff have moved quickly to source replacement equipment in an attempt to ensure preparations for the tournament continue without major interruption.

England enter World Cup with strong momentum

The timing is particularly unfortunate given the momentum England generated during qualification.

Under Tuchel, the Three Lions produced one of the most dominant qualifying campaigns in their history, becoming the first European nation to win all eight qualification matches while keeping a clean sheet in every game.

England scored 22 goals and conceded none against Serbia, Albania, Latvia and Andorra, extending a proud World Cup qualifying record that now stands at 92 victories from 130 matches.

England’s World Cup history

The Three Lions are preparing for their 17th appearance at the World Cup finals and their eighth consecutive qualification since 1998.

Their finest moment remains the triumph of 1966, when they lifted the trophy on home soil, while more recent campaigns have included a fourth-place finish in 2018 and a quarter-final appearance in Qatar four years ago.

Kane and Bellingham lead England’s hopes

Much of England’s hopes once again rest on Kane and Bellingham, two of the squad’s most influential figures.

Kane arrives at the tournament in outstanding form. England’s all-time leading goalscorer has scored 79 goals in 114 international appearances and has an impressive World Cup record of eight goals and three assists in 11 matches.

The Bayern Munich striker also enjoyed a remarkable 2025-26 season at club level, scoring 61 goals in all competitions.

Bellingham remains one of the most important players in Tuchel’s squad despite still being only 23 years old.

The Real Madrid midfielder has earned 46 England caps and played a key role in recent international tournaments, while contributing six goals and four assists during the latest La Liga campaign.

England focus on Croatia opener

England’s immediate priority, however, is ensuring the logistical problems caused by the theft do not affect their final preparations.

The squad is scheduled to continue training in Kansas City over the coming days before travelling to Dallas for their opening Group L fixture against Croatia.
