Senny Mayulu is staying in Paris. The 20-year-old has agreed a new contract with Paris Saint-Germain until June 2031, ending months of tense negotiations and intense external interest. Chelsea and Bayern Munich both came calling. Mayulu, however, never really wanted to leave.
A Saga Finally Resolved
This deal didn’t come easily. Talks between Mayulu and PSG stalled repeatedly since early 2026, with three separate proposals failing to move things forward. Salary was the central sticking point. Mayulu’s camp pushed for compensation matching his rapid rise to first-team regular. PSG, equally, tried to protect their internal wage structure.
At one point, discussions paused entirely, not resuming until after the Champions League final last May. That final itself gave Mayulu added leverage. Having scored in PSG’s title triumph over Inter in 2025, he arrived at the negotiating table as a proven big-game performer, not just a promising youngster.
Throughout the saga, Chelsea and Bayern monitored developments closely. Both clubs made inquiries, sensing an opportunity if talks collapsed. Neither, though, ever truly convinced Mayulu to move. His attachment to PSG, the club that shaped him from youth level, always proved stronger than any financial package from abroad.
Eventually, both sides found common ground. The final agreement reportedly includes a fixed salary alongside a variable component, with Mayulu guaranteed a place within PSG’s wage structure. A five-year extension until 2031 followed. Crucially, Luis Enrique’s continued faith in the player played a significant role. Mayulu trusts the coach’s vision, and that trust proved decisive.
Why This Matters for PSG
Keeping Mayulu signals real ambition. He offers genuine versatility, having played effectively across midfield and attack under Enrique. Rarely injured, always available, and increasingly influential, he fits exactly the profile PSG want to build around long-term.
This renewal also forms part of a broader pattern. João Neves, Willian Pacho, Lucas Beraldo, and Fabian Ruiz have all recently extended. PSG are locking down their core systematically, building a squad designed to compete on every front for years ahead.
For Mayulu personally, this represents a clear statement of intent. He’s not passing through Paris. He’s planting root
