Crucially, the move carries Mourinho’s fingerprints all over it. The new Real Madrid boss specifically wanted a left-back, and Cucurella topped his list. Sources indicate Mourinho harbored doubts about Carreras after receiving some negative feedback. Whatever the reason, he pushed hard for Cucurella instead.
