Casemiro is officially an Inter Miami player, and the club marked the occasion with his first photo alongside sporting director Alberto Marrero. Marrero played a crucial role behind the scenes, driving negotiations that ultimately convinced the Brazilian to choose Florida over other suitors. Agent Oscar Ribot joined the pair for the signing photos too.
The move ends a 34-year-old free agent saga that stretched across multiple continents. Casemiro’s contract at Manchester United expired at season’s end, and interest arrived from Serie A, Saudi Arabia, and beyond. Ultimately, though, the chance to reunite with elite company at Inter Miami won out.
That decision makes sense given the roster around him. Lionel Messi anchors an attack that already produces plenty of chances, yet Inter Miami have occasionally struggled controlling matches through midfield. Casemiro’s arrival directly addresses that gap, bringing ball-winning ability and tactical discipline few players in MLS can match.
His resume speaks for itself, frankly. Five Champions League titles, three La Liga crowns, and more than 660 club appearances across Real Madrid, Porto, and Manchester United back up every word of praise. Owner Jorge Mas called the signing proof of the club’s growing ambition, describing Casemiro as embodying leadership and a winning mentality.
Deal Draws League Scrutiny
Not everything about the arrival has gone smoothly, however. Major League Soccer has reportedly opened an investigation into possible tampering during the signing process. Insiders suggest the LA Galaxy held Casemiro’s discovery rights under league rules, raising questions over whether proper procedure was followed.
For now, that inquiry runs separately from the football itself. Casemiro will need a P-1 visa before official registration completes, a formality expected to move quickly given his profile. His contract runs through the 2027 MLS season, with an option extending things further into 2029.
Once cleared, he joins a Miami midfield already featuring Rodrigo De Paul, giving the Herons genuine steel alongside their attacking talent. Whether tampering questions cause lasting complications remains to be seen, but the football rationale behind this signing looks airtight.
