Personal Terms Already Agreed With Winger
Al Hilal have scheduled fresh direct talks with Chelsea this week, aiming to finally close a deal for Pedro Neto after already agreeing personal terms with the Portuguese winger. A financial proposal has reportedly been sent to Neto and his camp, reinforcing just how determined the Saudi club remains to complete this transfer.
Notably, personal terms were never the sticking point. Neto’s representatives, led by Jorge Mendes, held productive discussions with Al Hilal weeks ago, with the winger seemingly convinced by the prospect of reuniting with Portugal teammates Ruben Neves and Joao Cancelo in Riyadh. That existing relationship appears to have played a genuinely persuasive role in his decision.
The real complication has centred on fee negotiations between the two clubs. Chelsea initially valued Neto considerably higher, reportedly seeking around £70 million from domestic rivals earlier in the window. However, once Al Hilal emerged as serious suitors, that valuation softened toward approximately €60 million, or £51 million.
Interestingly, Neto’s exit represents a notable shift given his previous standing at Stamford Bridge. Since joining from Wolves in 2024 for £54 million, he’s made 103 appearances, scoring 19 goals while establishing himself as a genuinely important attacking option under multiple managers.
Chelsea’s Crowded Attack Eases The Decision
For Chelsea, sanctioning this sale makes considerable practical sense. Xabi Alonso’s squad currently features Morgan Rogers, Cole Palmer, Estevao, Jamie Gittens and Geovany Quenda across wide positions, meaning Neto is no longer irreplaceable within the club’s broader attacking plans.
Both Manchester City and Arsenal had previously shown genuine interest, with new City boss Enzo Maresca reportedly viewing Neto as a priority target given their prior working relationship. However, Al Hilal’s willingness to meet Chelsea’s revised valuation has effectively pushed both Premier League suitors out of contention.
With this week’s direct talks now scheduled, according to TeamTalk, both clubs appear increasingly close to finalising terms before the transfer window closes.
