Spurs Agree Club-Record Savinho Sale For City

Deal Structured At £75m Plus Add-Ons

Tottenham Hotspur have agreed an £85 million deal with Manchester City to sign Brazilian winger Savinho, marking a club-record sale for the Premier League champions-elect. Spurs will pay an initial £75 million, with a further £10 million available through performance-related add-ons, and £5 million of that package guaranteed.

Notably, this breakthrough arrives after weeks of genuine back-and-forth between both clubs. Tottenham’s original interest centred around a much lower figure, before City’s valuation steadily climbed toward £85 million as negotiations intensified. Savinho, evidently determined to force the move through, reportedly skipped a training session under Enzo Maresca as pressure mounted on City’s hierarchy to sanction his exit.

Personal terms were never really the obstacle throughout this saga. Savinho is expected to sign a long-term contract at Tottenham once the paperwork completes, having already made his desire to leave the Etihad unmistakably clear. His frustration stemmed largely from limited game time, starting just seven of his 24 Premier League appearances last season despite showing genuine quality whenever given the opportunity.

City Reshape Attack Following Departure

For City, this sale continues a broader squad reshuffle under Maresca. Reports suggest City are simultaneously advancing talks over Palmeiras winger Allan Elias as a potential replacement, viewing him as a long-term attacking option following Savinho’s departure. Omar Marmoush also remains subject to separate Tottenham interest, potentially bringing City’s combined transfer income from both departures close to £150 million.

Interestingly, this deal echoes a similar pursuit from last summer, when Guardiola blocked an earlier Tottenham approach and convinced Savinho to sign fresh terms instead. That resistance has clearly softened considerably this time around, given City’s willingness to finally let him leave.

For Roberto De Zerbi’s Tottenham, this represents their latest major investment in a summer already exceeding £230 million. The club has already added Sandro Tonali, Mateus Fernandes and Jan Paul van Hecke, according to Sky Sports, continuing an ambitious rebuild ahead of the new campaign.
