Dumfries

Real Madrid are close to signing Denzel Dumfries after the Dutch defender passed his medical ahead of a move from Inter Milan.

The transfer is moving quickly. Reports say Real Madrid have told Inter they plan to activate Dumfries’ release clause, which would make the 30-year-old one of their first big signings this summer.

The two clubs have agreed in principle to a three-year contract, and the transfer should be completed in the next few weeks.

Dumfries Passes Medical Ahead of Inter Milan Exit

This move is another big step in Madrid’s squad rebuild as they get ready for a new era with incoming head coach Jose Mourinho. Dumfries is set to strengthen the right side of the defense after long-time captain Dani Carvajal left the club.

The Dutch international will also compete for a spot and add tactical options alongside new signing Trent Alexander-Arnold as Madrid reshapes its defense for the new season.

Dutch Star Brings Experience and Attacking Quality

Dumfries joins Madrid after another strong season in Italy. He played an important part in Inter’s success, helping them win the Coppa Italia and making an impact both in attack and defense.

In Serie A, the wing-back scored three goals and had one assist in 20 games. He also stood out in Europe, scoring twice in five Champions League matches.

Dumfries’ Impressive Inter Milan Record

Since joining Inter in 2021, Dumfries has become known as one of Europe’s top attacking wing-backs. He played 207 games for Inter, scored 27 goals, and provided 28 assists, winning two Serie A titles and three Coppa Italia trophies.

Netherlands Defender Set for Bigger Role

Dumfries is also an important player for the Netherlands national team. He scored two goals and had three assists in the 2026 World Cup qualifiers and is expected to play a big role for the Oranje at this summer’s tournament.

Real Madrid Continue Searching for Defensive Reinforcements

Real Madrid may not stop with Dumfries. Reports say the club is also in talks to sign Ibrahima Konaté after his exit from Liverpool, as they look to strengthen their defense before the FIFA World Cup.
