Position Statement
KCPredict is a football news and predictions site. We publish match previews, analysis and predictions out of love for the game and our enjoyment of the numbers. We don't take bets. We are not bookmakers. We don't push you to gamble.
Some of our readers are betting. And we're serious about it. Here we explain how you can use our content and not allow betting to impact negatively on your finances, relationships or wellbeing.
You must be at least 18 years old or the age required by law in your jurisdiction to act on any of the information you read on this site. In some countries this may be older. We urge parents and guardians to use parental controls on devices to keep any minors away from betting sites/apps.
What is, and isn't, a prediction?
We offer informed opinions on our predictions. Based on form, stats, team news and context. They're probabilities, not guarantees. The team that has a 70% chance of winning will lose three in 10 times. Upset results, red cards, injuries and bad luck are all part of football. There's no way for a human or an algorithm to remove them.
-
There are no guarantees with any prediction on this site.
-
No past success is a guarantee of future success.
-
Never consider any tip (ours or anyone else's) as a way of making money.
Be extra careful with accumulators
Accumulators are exciting because you can make a lot of money with a small bet. But it means you have to win every pick. So let's say you have 10 picks each with a 50% chance of winning. You bet on them all together and win roughly once every 1,024 times you try (about 0.1% of the time). So, long accumulators are for fun - never a plan.
10 habits for keeping your betting under control
-
Only bet for entertainment, not for income. Consider the money you bet as the cost of a night out.
-
Don't bet money you can't afford to lose. Never bet money for rent, school fees, bills, food, or borrowed money.
-
Decide on a budget before you begin. Keep it separate from your essential spending.
-
Set a time limit. Use alarms, reminders. Long sessions lead to bad decisions.
-
Never chase your losses. Trying to win your losses back by increasing your bets is the quickest way to make things worse on a bad day.
-
Stop and think. Leave it for a few minutes. Would you still make the bet tomorrow?
-
Don't bet when you're drunk, upset, stressed or bored.
-
Don't let one result ruin your day. If you have to bet on something in order to enjoy it then maybe you should stop for a while.
-
Stay interested in other things. Friends, family, work, study, exercise, football...
-
Take advantage of the tools your bookie offers. They're not there by accident. You can set limits on how much you deposit. There are reality checks. You can take breaks. You can self-exclude.
Danger signs
If you find yourself:
-
Spending more money or time on bets than you meant to
-
Chasing losses by betting
-
Borrowing money, selling things or not paying bills in order to gamble
-
Trying to hide your gambling from family or friends
-
Feeling anxious or guilty, or irritable when you aren't gambling (or if you lose)
-
Neglecting work, studies or relationships because of gambling
-
Thinking a lot about gambling
If you're ticking a few of these boxes, stop right now. The sooner you act, the easier it is to get control again.
Look for licensed operators
If you plan to bet, please do it through a licensed bookmaker. In Nigeria for example, the National Lottery Regulatory Commission (NLRC) is responsible for the licensing and regulation of lottery and sports betting operators. Certain states like Lagos may have their own gaming authorities.
Before depositing money, verify an operator’s licence through the official channels of the regulator. Licensed operators are bound by regulations relating to age verification and player protection. Unlicensed operators are not necessarily bound by regulations. And you may not have any recourse should they refuse to pay you.
